DNA Special Interest Group - 19 Apr 2025

Today's Topic: DNA Advances Michelle's Slovaks

This meeting will follow up on some of the Slovaks discussed at CAGGNI's February program meeting. Matches related to Michelle's great-grandfather Andrew Svidron have revealed more of his immediate family than was previously known. The story of his niece Mary Rolko Gordulic's family, who emigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, is a harrowing one you won't want to miss. And everyone can benefit from this session by learning how DNA can advance your effort even in countries where paper-trail research opportunities are limited.

Do you have a DNA topic or tool you'd like to explore? A speaker who would add interest to the group? if so, please reach out to Michelle and we'll see what we can work in.

About the DNA SIG

This group focuses on learning the methods for analyzing DNA test results. We study topics such as autosomal DNA, mitochondrial DNA, Y-DNA and surname projects, X-DNA and ancestral admixture results. We'll also investigate third-party tools for analyzing your raw data and comparing DNA and gedcom data with test kit results from companies besides the one you tested with.

DNA can break down genealogical brick walls once thought impenetrable – but only if you know how.

This SIG endeavors to be interactive and welcomes your questions. Get ready to put your DNA results to work for you!

SIG Lead: Michelle Wilson
