CAGGNI Member Benefits

CAGGNI Today

CAGGNI is a vibrant genealogy group with nearly 200 active members. Most are amateur genealogists, some are professional genealogists, and many are just getting started in family history research. Our common thread is an enthusiasm for genealogy.  We welcome you to join us!

Programs

CAGGNI hosts monthly Membership Programs on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m., usually at the Schaumburg Township District Library in Schaumburg, Illinois, except in December. In addition, interactive hands-on workshops and/or Special Interest Groups (SIGS) are scheduled for many 2nd Saturdays throughout the year.

CAGGNI's programs cover a wide range of genealogical topics, often with a focus on using technology to foster research. Our Membership Programs are a great way to enhance your genealogy skills and to meet with others who share a common interest. A sampling of recent Membership Programs includes:

  • Online obituary research
  • Strategies for finding Old-World ancestors
  • DNA genealogy
  • Handheld Apps for Genealogists

Special Interest Groups

CAGGNI hosts Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings for users of the following genealogy software programs:

  • Family Tree Maker
  • The Master Genealogist
  • Reunion

Each SIG meets quarterly throughout the year, either following the general Membership Program or on an alternate 2nd Saturday. Refer to CAGGNI Meetings for complete details.

Newsletter

Each member receives the monthly Newsletter. Our Newsletter is an excellent source of tips, genealogy news, and articles of interest for the modern genealogy researcher. We invite you to view a sample Newsletter.

Members-Only Website Access

Members receive access to the Members-only section of the CAGGNI website. This section contains a complete archive of past newsletters, a member forum, a member directory and much more. Members can edit their profiles and search for others in the group with similar interests. CAGGNI's Surname service puts members in touch with anyone, anywhere, who are researching the same surname.
