Storytellers’ Special Interest Group

Our Storytellers group is dedicated to writing family stories for sharing with family members to ensure they don’t get lost.  If we don’t write them, “When we’re gone, they’re gone.”

For our November meeting, write a page or two about a grandparent or other older relative who impacted your life, one you haven’t written about before. Your narrative should include the facts of that person's life: the skeleton (ie, b, m, d, bur – when & where), but also put flesh on those ancestral bones – the why and how. Or you might write about an incident in that person's life that had a significant impact on what followed. Perhaps you might write about a special time you spent with that person and, of course, why it was so special. You might want to include pictures and/or copies of relevant documents.

Print up two copies of your narrative for sharing with others. Your fellow writers will have the opportunity to make suggestions for improvement as well as to enjoy your story before you share it with your family.

Held on the main floor of the Schaumburg Library in the tutorial area.
